Hindu leaders unite against hate speech: Papers to be filed in Equality Court on Monday

Hindu religious leaders are expected to file papers in the Equality Court on Monday the against Pastor Mervin Naidu for hate speech.

Professor Brij Maharaj, the Deputy President of the SA Hindu Mabha, said they reported Naidu to the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Rights (CRL) Commission and the Equality Court.

Ram Maharaj, the president of the SA Hindu Dharma Sabha said they had lodged a formal complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission and the Equality Court against Naidu.

They condemned a viral video clip of Pastor Naidu who claimed he was fostering religious cohesion while telling his congregation to pray over food from Hindu prayers before eating it to kill the "demons".
