:Bharathiar University has completed the process of appointing guest lecturers to vacancies in its various departments in time for the 2026-27 session.For the last two years, the process got delayed indefinitely for months at a stretch after the start of the classes.This time around, appointment orders will be given during the first week of July to the candidates selected in the walk-in interview conducted on June 24, such that the classes for the first year students could be initiated on July 10, Registrar R. Rajavel said.Each of the several departments could augment its faculty strength by two or more teachers after the recruitment process.New faculty have been posted to the departments of Statistics, Medical Physics, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Informatics, Biotechnology, Microbial Bio-Technology, Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Computer Science, English and Foreign Language, History and Tourism, Commerce, Sociology and Population Studies, Psychology, Communication and Media Studies, Extension and Career Guidance, Tamil, English, Computer Science, Commerce and Management, Physical Education, Centre for International Affairs, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.For the last two years, the departments had to engage mentor professors on hourly payment of ₹1,500 to manage the classes. Altogether, there were 20 mentor professors who will henceforth be replaced by the newly-appointed guest faculty, appointed for monthly pay of ₹25,000, the Registrar said.The university will follow the system in vogue in the government arts and science colleges in salary fixation, against the backdrop of the purported move by the Government to increase the salary of the guest faculty to ₹30,000 per month, Prof. Rajavel added.
