Bharathiar University is expected to initiate in a week’s time the process of appointing guest faculty for 2026-27 session, in deference to the representations made by the departments for completion of the recruitment well before start of the academic year.

Department heads have been asked to furnish details of the work load, after factoring in 12 hours of classroom teaching per week for professors, 14 hours for associate professors and 16 hours for assistant professors.

The requirement will be assessed based on the data and the number of vacancies will subsequently be notified, R. Rajavel, Registrar said.

Last year, procedural delays resulted in only less than 50 percent of the required number of over 60 guest faculty getting appointed as late as September.

By then, several potential candidates had taken up jobs in higher educational institutions elsewhere, according to a senior professor.
