The District Crime Branch (DCB) in Coimbatore has arrested a 43-year-old man on charge of cheating a youth by promising him a job in the Food Corporation of India (FCI).S. Udaydeep of Maruthi Nagar at Chikkabanavara in Bengaluru was arrested on a complaint lodged by S. Vignesh (32) of Sriram Nagar near Saravanampatti.As per the First Information Report (FIR) registered on June 26, the complainant got introduced to Udayadeep through his relative. The complainant alleged that Udayadeep claimed to be a member of FCI advisory committee and chief executive officer of Radhai Consultancy Private Limited at Kurukampalayam near Ganeshapuram.According to the complainant, the accused collected ₹7 lakh in multiple transactions between 2019 and 2023 by promising to arrange the job of Junior Assistant in FCI. Further, the accused collected ₹5,70,000, stating that he knew higher officials and assuring to recommend him for the job.The complainant alleged that the accused remained out of reach when he followed up for the assured job. He claimed of coming across several persons, who were also defrauded of a total of ₹95.80 lakh by Udayadeep; his wife Selvarani alias Sathya, who is the proprietor of Sun Maas Agro Industries; their aides Karuna, Thangavel, Selvi and Raja in similar way.The DCB registered a case against Udayadeep, Selvarani, Karuna, Thangavel, Selvi and Raja under Sections 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code.Udayadeep was arrested and the sixth judicial magistrate court in Coimbatore remanded him in judicial custody till July 13.
