President of India Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Anantapur on Wednesday (July 1) to attend the first convocation of Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP), where she will confer degrees and present gold medals to meritorious students.The district police administration made elaborate security arrangements for the President’s visit. Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, State ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials will also attend the event.District Collector A. Shyam Prasad said that multi-layered security has been put in place at the university campus, helipad, and along the convoy route. Traffic restrictions will be enforced on key stretches during the VVIP movement.The university authorities said that the convocation marks a milestone in the institution’s academic journey, with students from various disciplines receiving their degrees. Gold medals will be presented to outstanding performers.Ahead of the President’s visit, officials from the Special Protection Group (SPG), district police and civil administration reviewed security and logistical arrangements on Tuesday. Sanitation, drinking water, medical teams, and emergency services have also been deployed at the venue to ensure the smooth conduct of the presidential programme.The President is scheduled to leave Anantapur in the afternoon.
