NBCUniversal has unveiled a pact with Starz to make the streaming destination for the Outlander and Power franchises available to select Peacock subscribers for $11.99 a month.
With bundling increasingly popular with streaming giants, now-solo Starz will offer its streaming TV service as an add-on subscription to Peacock subscribers on the select, premium, and premium plus tiers, it was announced on Tuesday.
“This Starz add-on subscription expands choice for our customers across all three tiers, provides flexibility for subscribers to enhance their experience on Peacock, and allows for deeper engagement with complementary premium content. We’re pleased to deliver even more value to customers and give them the opportunity to access more of what they want to watch right on our platform,” Will Gonzalez, chief growth and data officer, NBCUniversal Media Group, said in a statement.
NBCU is also eyeing more revenue for Peacock after years of over-spending by major streaming services for new content to sign up new subscribers and retain existing ones — only for Wall Street to question their potential for profitability. Starz Networks president Alison Hoffman touted the bundling marriage via Peacock just over a year after her company split from Lionsgate to go it alone.
