A "long duration" heat event starts in Toronto today, and could last into the weekend, as Environment Canada warns of health risks caused by extreme heat.
Temperatures in Toronto today, at a maximum, will reach 34 C, but could hit 37 C in some areas. Even the minimum expected temperatures today will reach 21 to 25 C, providing “little relief from the heat,” Environment Canada said in its forecast. The weather agency issued an orange warning for the heat, which indicates “severe weather” that can cause “significant damage” and pose health risks.
