A powerhouse line-up of the Western Cape’s finest jazz talent came together for the Abdullah Ibrahim Memorial Concert at the Artscape on Monday night.
While the cold winter air was unmistakable in Cape Town, the Artscape Opera House was vibrating as the Cape Town music community and music lovers connected for the Abdullah Ibrahim Memorial Concert on Monday evening.
Talented musicians, family, and long-time associates of the legendary musician organised a special memorial tribute concert to honour the beloved icon, the late poet, composer, pianist, martial artist, and philosopher, who passed away on June 15, 2026.
The line-up included the impressive talents of Hilton Schilder (piano), Mark Fransman (piano) Blake Hellaby (pianist), Kirsten Skippers (piano), Ramon Alexander (pianist), Nicolas Miso (vocals), Danel Murcott (flute), Buddy Wells (tenor sax), Shaun Johannes (double bass), Dylan Tabisher (electric bass), Duncan Johnson (Tenor Sax Horn section leader), Don Vino (alto sax), Annemie Nel (drums), Kevin Gibson (drums), Joshua Nemaire (double bass), and Bradley Prince (guitar).
The stellar line-up, producers, and show patron Dr Iqbal Survé assemble for a final farewell following last night’s memorial concert.
