The source added that despite Sowore's explanation, the armed DSS and prison officials refused to allow him to leave Justice Muhammed Umar's courtroom to attend the other proceedings.

Lawless operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service on Tuesday momentarily prevented the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, from appearing before another court where he was scheduled to attend proceedings, despite his warning that failure to show up could put his bail at risk.

Sources familiar with the development told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that the armed DSS operatives and prison officials resisted Sowore's attempt to leave one courtroom to briefly appear before another court handling a separate case against him.

According to the sources, Sowore informed the security operatives that he had another matter scheduled for hearing before a different court and needed to present himself there so that his absence would not be interpreted as a violation of his bail conditions.
