Vessels of European Union border agency Frontex rescued 70 migrants in two separate operations south of Gavdos, Greece’s southernmost island, early Tuesday morning.
In the first operation, a Frontex aircraft located a dinghy with 34 passengers onboard, 20 nautical miles south of the island, who were picked up by one of its vessel.
In a second case, another dinghy with about 36 migrants was found and rescued 23 nautical miles southeast of Gavdos.
The migrants were transferred to the island’s port.
