A church close to a planned Amazon data center campus is considering selling up to a data center developer.As reported by the Prince William Times, the Manassas Church of the Brethren is reportedly weighing up an offer to sell its land to a data center developer.The land the church stands on is zoned for industrial use. Micron operates on the other side of the street, and Amazon is looking to develop a campus nearby. The cloud company owns multiple plots of land in the area and is working with Black Chamber in the area.Minister Rev. Mandy North said if the church does sell, it would look to build a new church on five acres nearby, on land owned by the City of Manassas at the Landing at Cannon Branch. It’s unclear if the city would sell the land to the church, with officials said to be looking for a more commercial user and other parties interested in the site.Black Chamber Partners is part of a private equity firm with a focus on data center development in Northern Virginia. The group was founded in 2019 and focuses on developing build-to-suit powered shells for hyperscalers.Black Chamber is known to be active around Loudoun and Prince William counties, and is working with Amazon on some projects.The church, founded in 1895, has received an offer from Black Chamber to acquire the 7-acre site at 10047 Nokesville Road. The value of the proposal has not been shared.“Our initial gut was to decline the offer,” Rev. North said during a June 8 Manassas City Council meeting. “We aren’t for sale. We’ve been in ministry for 130 years. We still have 130 years of ministry here.”According to local property records, Black Chamber has been acquiring various land parcels nearby, purchasing a total of 12 acres between the church and Dean Drive for around $38.8 million.
