Unidentified persons decamped with 90 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹3 lakh in cash from a locked home in Theni district. Police said that Selvaraj, who served as Sub-Inspector of Police, had retired a few months ago and was no more. It was said that Lakshmi, 53, wife of late Selvaraj, had locked her house and had been to Velankanni with family members.
