Gold jewels weighing 17 sovereigns and cash of ₹80,000 were stolen from a locked house in Manamadurai.Pandi, 72, a retired government employee, resided at Annamalai Nagar in Manamadurai, Sivaganga district. Last week, he had gone to his son’s house in Madurai. When he returned home on Friday, the lock was broken and the door was wide open. Pandi went inside the house and found that 17 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹80,000 kept in the bureau had been stolen.
