SAPS recorded 146 arrests for murder, with the highest numbers in KwaZulu-Natal (33) and Gauteng (28), while 136 suspects were arrested for attempted murder.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) says a total of 15, 384 suspects were arrested across the country during SHANELA II operations carried out between June 22 and 28.
Of those arrested, 2,884 were foreign nationals apprehended for contraventions of the Immigration Act in various parts of the country.
The operations also resulted in the arrest of 1,717 wanted individuals linked to serious and violent crimes.
