Police say immigration enforcement operations will continue as authorities crack down on undocumented foreign nationals.
More than 59,000 undocumented foreign nationals have been arrested in South Africa this year as government intensifies immigration enforcement operations under Operation Shanela and other multidisciplinary initiatives.
Police Deputy National Commissioner Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili said law enforcement agencies remained committed to enforcing immigration laws while targeting criminal activity across the country.
"Operation Shanela remains one of government's most successful crime-fighting initiatives," she said.
Mosikili said daily intelligence-driven operations were being conducted in all provinces, targeting wanted suspects, illegal firearms, drugs, organised crime networks and undocumented foreign nationals.
