In the summer of 1971, Canada’s first Pride event — also known as the ”Big Giggle” — took place. Fifty five years later, it’s grown into one of the largest gatherings in the world. For some Pride is a celebration; for others, it’s a protest. For many queer people, it’s both. This weekend, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of Toronto with something to say. Here are some of the messages we saw.
