In the summer of 1971, Canada’s first Pride event — also known as the ”Big Giggle” — took place. Fifty five years later, it’s grown into one of the largest gatherings in the world. For some Pride is a celebration; for others, it’s a protest. For many queer people, it’s both. This weekend, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of Toronto with something to say.
