Rainbow confetti drifted through downtown Toronto on Sunday afternoon as thousands lined Yonge Street, dancing to pop anthems, waving Pride flags from sidewalks and balconies and cheering as the annual Pride Parade wound through the city’s core.
Stiltwalkers, drag queens and politicians marched alongside each other — including Mayor Olivia Chow, Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles, Federal NDP Leader Avi Lewis, Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May and Prime Minister Mark Carney, who made his first appearance at the annual festival since taking office last year.
