The Uppinangady police have arrested Madaswamy, a native of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, who had failed to appear before a jurisdictional court in Puttur for the last 10 years.In a press note, the police said Madaswamy was accused in a case registered on October 4, 2016, under Sections 380 (theft) and 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night) of the Indian Penal Code. Since then, he had failed to appear before the I Additional Civil Judge and JMFC Court in Puttur. The court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him and directed the police to submit details of his property.The police traced Madaswamy to Krishna Nagar in Puttur and arrested him on Saturday afternoon. He was produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody until Monday, June 29. His counsel filed a bail application under Section 480 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
