Transport Minister A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban and Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister D. Logesh Tamilselvan participated in pulse polio immunisation camps held in Salem and Namakkal districts respectively, on Sunday.At a camp held at Kumarasamipatti urban primary health centre in Salem Corporation, the Transport Minister administered polio drops to the children. Minister Logesh Tamilselvan participated at a camp held at Thillaipuram urban primary health centre in Namakkal district and administered the drops to the children.A total of 2.61 lakh children - 2.16 lakh children below the age of five and 45,441 children aged between five and six - are to be covered under the immunisation camp in Salem district. As many as 2,392 centres were set up in the district - 2,105 in rural areas and 287 in urban areas. Likewise, the camps were organised in 13 government hospitals, 108 primary health centres, 291 sub health centres, 1,487 anganwadi centres, 109 schools, two private hospitals, four toll gates, 26 bus stands, markets and marriage halls. A total of 9,500 staff and volunteers are involved in the camps.In Namakkal district, a total of 1.26 lakh children will be covered in the 1, 192 camps set up in the district. As many as 4,768 staff and volunteers are deployed, and 44 special camps were organised in public places, such as bus stands, railway stations, and toll gates.
