Mamsapuram police have booked a DMK functionary, Thangamankani, on charges of abusing and intimidating Srivilliputtur MLA A. Karthik, while he had inspected a tank on Friday.The police said that following complaints that soil was being lifted rampantly from an irrigation tank, the ruling party MLA inspected the tank.Local people had complained that those involved in soil smuggling had claimed that it was done under the instruction of the MLA.Even as he was enquirying, Thangamankani, son for former Srivilliputtur MLA R. Tamaraikani, picked a quarrel with him.After a video clipping of the heated argument went viral, the Mamsapuram police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by a TVK functionary Karthik.Thangamankani’s wife Sujitha Mary is the chairperson of Mamsapuram Town panchayat.
