Kuwait came under attack from “hostile” missiles and drones, the country’s army said on Sunday, while in Bahrain air-raid sirens sounded following fresh US strikes against Iran.“Kuwaiti air defenses are currently engaging hostile missile and drone attacks. It said that Iran targeted Bahrain again with a number of ballistic missiles and drones.The ministry added that Tehran’s actions were neither isolated nor incidental, but part of a deliberate and systematic pattern of repeated aggression against Bahrain’s sovereignty.The Bahraini military later said that it had “intercepted and destroyed a number of projectiles used in these treacherous Iranian attacks,” adding that it was on “maximum alert.”The kingdom’s interior ministry also announced that as a result of the Iranian aggression, a residential building was damaged in Muharraq Governorate, but noted that was no loss of life.For its part, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry condemned the repeated Iranian attacks against the country the latest of which occurred at dawn today.“The ministry stressed that the continuation of these blatant attacks, at a time when regional and international efforts toward deescalation are underway, undermines efforts aimed at reducing tension in the region and constitutes a direct challenge to the international will supporting that course,” the statement said.The Kuwaiti army later in the day said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles with no damage or casualties.Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Sunday that it carried out strikes against Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian territory, warning any further aggression would be met with a “crushing response.”The US military bombed Iran for a second consecutive day on Saturday, in what it said was retaliation for an Iranian attack on a tanker in the vital Strait of Hormuz.With AFPRead more: US strikes ‘multiple targets’ in Iran: CENTCOM
