Bulgaria is looking to deepen its strategic partnership with the United States, particularly in the fields of defense, energy, innovation, and advanced technologies, Deputy Economy Minister Krasimir Yakimov said during the third regional economic conference organized by the American Chamber of Commerce.

Addressing participants at the forum, Yakimov argued that Bulgaria should no longer be viewed as Europe's periphery, but as "a strategic investment destination oriented toward the European and Euro-Atlantic partnership." He said the government's long-term objective is to turn the country into a technological and industrial hub by capitalizing on its geopolitical position, skilled workforce, and competitive industrial zones.

According to the deputy minister, the current moment presents an opportunity to convert that potential into tangible economic growth. "Now is the time for this potential to be realized in a real economic force," he said. "We are not competing for investments from the past, we are competing for investments of the future - high-tech production with high added value, artificial intelligence, data centers, scientific research, innovation, modern energy, and modern infrastructure."
