SportBoxingOleksandr UsykWorld heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has confirmed he is going to vacate his title belts in a statement which gave a huge hint on his boxing future18:40, 26 Jun 2026Updated 19:00, 26 Jun 2026Oleksandr Usyk has confirmed that he will vacate all his belts - but is not retiring from boxing.Fresh off the back of last month's controversial stoppage win against Rico Verhoeven, the 39-year-old has chosen to drop his three body belts - the WBA 'super', WBC and IBF - in a move which has blown the heavyweight division wide open.However, Usyk won't be retiring from the sport just yet as he announced he will fight one last time before hanging up the gloves, though his next opponent has not been revealed.In a video on social media, the Ukrainian, who has an undefeated professional record of 25 wins from his heavyweight career, said: "It's a good day to say that I want to vacate all the belts I currently hold. I want to make them available so the guys who are next in line can fight for them."I'm leaving the belts but I'm not leaving the sport because I still have my last dance."He added: "I want to thank everyone. I have great respect for all organisations. I want to thank everyone and say more to come."Usyk then wrote a separate post on X: "Attention [two exclamation mark emojis]. Important update... I am vacating my unified WBA, IBF and WBC heavyweight world titles ahead of stepping into the ring for my final fight.""This is a well-considered decision that I am confident will open new opportunities for me. This is not the end of the story. The continuation lies ahead," he added in another post on X.Usyk has been a champion in the heavyweight division since he knocked Anthony Joshua off his throne in 2021.
