Newcastle United has set its sights on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, a 25-year-old German international whose release clause sits at approximately £73.5M. The Magpies are reportedly in direct contact with the player’s representatives as they explore a summer move.
Dortmund extended his deal in March 2026, locking him in until 2030. But built into that extension are release clauses: an €80M clause activates from the summer of 2027, and it drops further to €70M in 2028.
The price tag and who else is circling
Dortmund’s current asking price for Nmecha sits at approximately €100M. That’s what they’d want if a club came knocking right now, before any release clause kicks in.
Newcastle isn’t the only club that’s noticed the midfielder’s trajectory. Manchester United and Manchester City have both expressed interest, which is notable given that Nmecha came through Manchester City’s academy before eventually landing at Wolfsburg and then Dortmund. Liverpool and Barcelona are also reportedly in the mix.
