The Anambra State Police Command has dismantled a notorious cultists’ hideout along Nwaziki Street, Awada in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, in a raid that led to the recovery of AK-47 magazines, live ammunition and other police related items.
In a press statement released on Friday, the Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the operation was carried out by the operatives attached to the IGP Violent Crime Response Unit on June 20.
Ikenga said two AK-47 magazines, 60 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and other Police-related items were recovered during a sustained raid on the suspected cultists’ hideout.
According to him, no suspect was arrested at the scene, as the suspects fled on sighting the police, but the operatives have commenced investigations to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.
