According to Ikenga, the police operatives engaged the armed gang following intelligence reports on the activities and movement of heavily armed members of the group.
The Anambra State Police Command has said that a police-led Joint Security Patrol Team operating in the Aguata sector of the state has killed four suspected members of an armed “secessionist” group during a gun battle along the Ogboji–Ajalli Road in Orumba South Local Government Area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday, said that the operation, which took place on the evening of Tuesday led to the recovery of a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), AK-47 rifles, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ammunition, police uniforms, a vehicle, phones and other items.
According to Ikenga, the police operatives engaged the armed gang following intelligence reports on the activities and movement of heavily armed members of the group.
"The police-led Joint Security Patrol Team, Aguata Sector, recorded a major operational success on the evening of 23rd June 2026 following an armed confrontation with a suspected secessionist armed gang along the Ogboji–Ajalli Road in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State," Ikenga said.
