Two NATO countries on the Alliance's eastern flank have warned that Russia may stage provocations in the Baltic states or Poland if it perceives the war front moving closer to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The warning was reported by The Guardian, citing Western sources, according to Ukrinform.

According to the sources, concerns are growing that the Kremlin could resort to new provocations as it comes under increasing pressure from Ukraine's long-range strike campaign targeting military and strategic facilities near Moscow and St. Petersburg.

On Monday, Latvia's intelligence service said: "We see indications that Russia is preparing military provocations against the Baltic countries or Poland."

However, the agency stressed that it did not believe Russia was preparing for a full-scale attack.
