Manchester United have set their sights on Gilberto Mora, a 17-year-old Mexican attacking midfielder who has spent the past year shattering records at a pace that makes most teenage prodigies look like late bloomers.

Mora, who plays for Club Tijuana in Liga MX, became the youngest goalscorer in the league’s history and the youngest player to debut for Mexico’s senior national team. He also holds the distinction of being the youngest Mexican and North American player to appear in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. That’s a lot of “youngest ever” milestones for someone born in October 2008.

A prospect drawing a crowd

Manchester United’s interest isn’t exactly a secret, and it isn’t exclusive either. Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City are all reportedly monitoring Mora.

United’s interest reportedly began as early as 2025 and intensified around the World Cup, where Mora’s performances put him firmly on the European radar.
