A 69-year-old Westmoorings businesswoman has become the third person to be taken into custody by the police, as Blue Waters Products Ltd owner Dominic Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve Hadeed, remained detained up to late last night. This as investigations continued following searches at the couple’s west Trinidad home and Hadeed’s Trincity businessplace on Wednesday. The T&T Police Service released a statement at about 8.30 p.m. confirming the third person had been taken into custody. It did not release her name or directly link her to the ongoing investigation into Hadeed, but stated that it was providing an update on the ongoing investigation referenced in a previous release dated June 24, 2026.This earlier release had said two individuals were detained on Wednesday in Westmoorings. However, police sources told the Express last night that the two actions were linked.“She is currently assisting with the ongoing investigative process and no charges have been laid,” the release stated about the Westmoorings businesswoman. It noted she was detained yesterday. The release also noted that people being taken into custody for the purpose of assisting with enquiries was a standard investigative procedure and did not constitute a finding of wrongdoing or adverse inference.“The TTPS remains committed to ensuring that all investigative steps are conducted professionally, impartially, and with full respect for the legal and reputational rights of all individuals involved.“As this matter remains active, no further information can be disclosed at this time. The TTPS will continue to provide updates as appropriate and remains steadfast in its duty to uphold the rule of law,” the latest release stated.Police seek legal advice Police sources told the Express that investigators have sought legal advice on what charges, if any, should be laid against Hadeed and his wife. However, law enforcement sources provided no details. They also could not give any timelines for when the process would be completed.Speaking at a news conference in Port of Spain yesterday, Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles was also asked to comment on Hadeed’s detention. Beckles stated that “the main thing is ensure there is due process and that the law takes its course”.She noted that this was taking place against the backdrop of the ongoing state of emergency (SoE).The Opposition Leader said as with all other cases taking place under the SoE, “we await to hear from the Government”.On Wednesday morning officers from a specialised unit, some in plain clothes and some in uniform, arrived at the Hadeeds’ home and announced the search of the property. They seized several electronic devices, including laptops.Electronic devices belonging to the couple’s children were also taken by investigators, sources confirmed.Investigators then drove Hadeed to his business in Trincity, to conduct additional searches as part of ongoing enquiries, sources said. However, it could not be ascertained if anything had been seized from that location.A media release from the TTPS on Wednesday stated that arising out of an ongoing investigation, officers executed search warrants lawfully issued by the Supreme Court of Judicature at locations in Westmoorings and Trincity.During the execution of these warrants, Hadeed and his wife were “detained and are currently assisting investigators with enquiries”, the release stated. The TTPS emphasised that “the execution of a warrant is a standard investigative procedure and does not constitute a finding of wrongdoing. All actions taken by officers were conducted strictly within the parameters of the law, under judicial authority, and with full regard for the rights and reputational interests of all persons involved.”The TTPS also cautioned that “no conclusions should be drawn regarding the status of any individual until investigations are completed and any evidence is properly assessed in accordance with due process”.
