Greek students brought their own proposals for combating school violence directly to Education Minister Sofia Zacharaki in a meeting this week, presenting recommendations drawn from firsthand experience with bullying and digital aggression.
Ten students from various schools attended the session, the culmination of a consultation initiative organized by the Athens Democracy Forum, in which 22 teenagers from 14 public and private schools analyzed their experiences and compiled a formal report submitted to the ministry.
Their proposals included optional but ministry-organized seminars for parents through parent associations, monthly in-person psychological counseling for families of both victims and perpetrators, and reduced class sizes to allow teachers and school psychologists to detect early warning signs of violence.
