The Disciplinary Committee of Amirkabir University of Technology has issued an expulsion order for Amirmohammad Sourmeh, an MBA master’s student who entered the university in the 2025–2026 academic year.
The “Daneshjouyane Pishro” (Progressive Students) Telegram channel reported that the charge against the student was cited as “insulting the flag of the Islamic Republic.”
The ruling comes as two University of Tehran students, Amirmohammad Karimi and Mahyar Eftekhari, had previously faced expulsion orders issued by university disciplinary committees on identical charges.
In recent months, disciplinary actions against a number of students across the country’s universities have triggered backlash and criticism from student activists and several academic associations.
