June 25 (UPI) -- The Florida Panthers acquired forward Garnet Hathaway through a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers, general manager Bill Zito announced Thursday.

The Panthers agreed to send a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a fourth-round pick in 2027 in exchange for Hathaway and a sixth-round pick in 2026. The Flyers also will pay 50% of Hathaway's contract.

"Garnet is a physical and highly competitive player who will complement our group well," Zito said. "We're excited to add his veteran presence to our group for the upcoming season."

Hathaway, 34, totaled a goal and two assists over 66 appearances last season. He previously spent time with the Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins.
