The organisation made the demand in a post on X, where it expressly called for Sowore's freedom amid mounting concerns over his continued detention and the circumstances surrounding his recent court appearance.
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has demanded the immediate release of human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, from detention.
The organisation made the demand in a post on X, where it expressly called for Sowore's freedom amid mounting concerns over his continued detention and the circumstances surrounding his recent court appearance.
SERAP wrote: "Free Sowore, drop charges".
The call by the rights organisation adds to growing local and international pressure on Nigerian authorities over the treatment of Sowore, a prominent activist, journalist, and presidential candidate who has remained a vocal critic of government policies and actions.
