The sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday conducted searches in Palani and Natham in Dindigul district in connection with the corruption case registered against former State Highways Minister E.V. Velu by the agency.In Palani, the DVAC sleuths conducted a search at the residence of a retired Divisional Engineer of the Highways Department Sathyabama. Earlier, she had been suspended following allegations of irregularities involving land surveying for road construction in Karur.Prior to her retirement, she had been posted in Chennai. The DVAC registered a case against her for amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income. A 10 member team conducted a search at her residence.In Natham, DVAC sleuths conducted a search at the residence of an Assistant Divisional Engineer R. Kannan. The 10 member team conducted a search for close to eight hours. Kannan is currently posted in Madurai and he was not present at his residence during the search.
