The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday (June 25) searched the Race Course residence of a Deputy Superintending Engineer, Construction and Maintenance, Coimbatore Circle, in connection with a corruption case relating to alleged irregularities in State Highways Department road works.V.V. Nithilan, who earlier served as Divisional Engineer (Highways), Erode NABARD and Rural Roads, is among the accused named in the case registered by the DVAC against former Minister for PWD E.V. Velu, several Highways Department officials and a contractor.The case was registered following a complaint alleging that payments were released for road works that had not been executed under the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme in 2022. After obtaining sanction from the State government on June 23, 2026, the DVAC booked the accused under various provisions, including the Prevention of Corruption Act.Searches were conducted at multiple locations linked to the accused across the State on Thursday.
