S. Rajendiran, new Madurai Commissioner of Police, assumed office, here on Thursday.He joined the service as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) through the 1998 Group-1 examination and subsequently became a Superintendent of Police (SP) in 2007.He was conferred with IPS in 2012. Prior to this, he served as Joint Commissioner of Chennai City (Flower Bazaar Zone) in 2019.In 2020, he was promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and served as the DIG of Madurai Range, and later as Police Commissioner of Tirunelveli City.Thereafter, he was promoted to Inspector General of Police (IGP) in 2024 and served as the Police Commissioner of Tiruppur City before being transferred to Madurai.
