The Ondo State Scholars Arena for Development Initiative (OSSADI) has called on the State Government to publicly disclose the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) it signed with the Dangote Group for the development of the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ), insisting that residents have a right to know the details of the agreement.
In an open letter addressed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the group commended the administration for attracting the Dangote Group to invest in the long-abandoned project, describing the development as a major step toward economic transformation, industrialisation and job creation in the state.
The group noted that the project has the potential to create thousands of jobs, attract foreign direct investment, boost exports and strengthen infrastructure development.
However, OSSADI stressed that transparency and accountability must accompany any major public-private partnership involving state assets and resources.
Signed by Convener and General Secretary, Moyoloye Oloruntimilehin and Odofin Oluwafemi respectively, the group said that while it supports efforts aimed at unlocking the economic potential of the Olokola Free Trade Zone, the people of Ondo State deserve to know the exact terms and conditions of the agreement entered into on their behalf.
