Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a socio-cultural group, has called on the Federal Government and relevant security, regulatory, and anti-corruption agencies to conduct a transparent investigation into alleged reports concerning strategic asset acquisitions and illegal mining activities politically exposed persons and other individuals
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, deputy president general, and Chibuikeya Achoakawa, deputy secretary general, the organisation said the matters raised were of significant public interest and required urgent attention to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public confidence in governance institutions.
The group referenced alleged reports surrounding the acquisition of a controlling stake in Geregu Power Plc allegedly by a former governor, noting that the transaction had generated public debate regarding ownership structure, funding sources, and compliance with financial regulations. It also called for clarification of issues linked to associated corporate entities referenced in public discussions.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo further pointed to recurring concerns and allegations regarding illegal mining activities in parts of Zamfara, Kaduna, and Kebbi states, urging relevant authorities to establish the facts through lawful and independent investigations. It stressed that allegations alone do not constitute proof, but said such claims should not be ignored where they continue to attract public attention.
