How fair and transparent the selection process of the vice-chancellor is, has a great role to play in how the university turns out in terms of development and growth during the tenure of such a vice- chancellor, a study has shown.
According to the research findings, universities that adopt transparent, accountable and inclusive leadership selection processes consistently record better governance outcomes, stronger institutional stability and higher levels of public trust.
This was disclosed at a public lecture hosted by the Abuja Leadership and Governance Centre at the University of Abuja,
The lecture, themed: Leadership Selection Process and Governance of Federal Universities in Nigeria (1993–2024), was used to unveil findings of a research study which linked transparent leadership recruitment to stronger university governance and improved institutional performance.
