MANILA, Philippines — More lava flowed from Mayon Volcano on Thursday evening as the most active volcano in the country entered its 170th day of effusive eruption, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Thursday.
Based on footage posted by Phivolcs, fresh lava effusions were seen and recorded at Mayon from 8:53 p.m. to 9:02 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. to 9:26 p.m.
“Effusive eruption of Mayon Volcano continues for its 170th consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), locally known as ‘uson,’ and rockfalls,” Phivolcs said.
