Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday approved the construction of a new campus of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) at Dheerpur in north Delhi.Spread over 50 acresSpread across 50 acres, the campus will be built at an estimated cost of ₹1,668 crore and developed in phases to cater to around 8,000 students. In the first phase, academic facilities will be created for 5,400 students.The project includes hostel accommodation for 840 students besides residential facilities for faculty members and other employees. It will feature modern academic blocks, a central library, administrative buildings, student amenities, an auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,500, sports infrastructure, and parking facilities.During a meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee, a panel led by the Chief Minister also cleared projects worth ₹657.99 crore to strengthen 270.63 km of roads. Ms. Gupta said the infrastructure project would make city roads safer, more durable, and of higher quality. It will improve the condition of several key stretches across east, north, and south Delhi and help strengthen infrastructure in line with modern standards, she added.Quality, transparencyMs. Gupta said the government is focusing not only on construction but also on quality and transparency.
