Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister has once again rejected reports regarding Tehran’s agreement to allow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspections of its damaged nuclear facilities.
In a post on the social media platform X, Kazem Gharibabadi wrote that despite a request from Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the IAEA, no meeting was held with him in Switzerland, and there is no plan in place to grant the agency access to the attacked facilities or nuclear materials.
Criticizing statements by U.S. officials, including Donald Trump and JD Vance, he emphasized, “You cannot advance a ‘fait accompli’ policy through media hype.”
This stance comes shortly after Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, announced hours earlier that the process of resuming inspections at Iran’s nuclear facilities is under review, although no specific timeline has yet been provided.
Speaking in Japan, Grossi stated that, based on existing understandings, Iran’s nuclear activities must be placed under the agency’s supervision and that conducting inspections is necessary to achieve this goal. He added that discussions regarding the timing and location of these inspections are ongoing and that a decision will be made soon in cooperation with Iran.
