A building owner in Coimbatore’s Ward 8 was fined ₹50,000 after Coimbatore Corporation health officials found Aedes mosquito larvae at a construction site in Nehru Nagar, Maharaja Extension, during a dengue prevention inspection on Wednesday.The larvae were detected in a ground-level water tank, lift pit, drums and other water-holding containers within the premises. The breeding sources were cleared immediately and action was taken against the owner under the Tamil Nadu Public Health Act, 1939.Officials said inspections and awareness campaigns are being carried out across the city to eliminate breeding sources of Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit dengue.
