The decomposing body found stuffed inside a black plastic bag in Kewtown in Athlone on Monday has positively been identified due to the bracelet that the woman was wearing.
Shocked community members who knew the woman said she was well-known in the Bokmakerie area.
Police told the Cape Argus that the woman had been positively identified thanks to the bracelet she had been wearing, but they were waiting on an official process of confirmation from the family, which would include DNA testing and other formalities.
The woman’s photograph was shared widely on social media, and her name is known to the Cape Argus.
