District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar reviewed various development projects being implemented in villages under the Keelaiyur block in Nagapattinam district on Wednesday.At Thirupoondi village in Keelaiyur block, the Collector visited women self-help group members who are engaged in self-employment activities with financial assistance of ₹35,000 from the Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood Mission and ₹3 lakh from the District Industries Centre.He later inspected the construction of a surplus water regulator being executed by the Water Resources Department (WRD) at Ettukudi village at an estimated cost of ₹1.07 crore. Reviewing the quality and progress of the work, he instructed officials to ensure its completion within the stipulated contract period.At Thiruvaimur village, Mr. Praveen Kumar inspected the reconstruction of the Therkuveli canal sluice, which is being undertaken by the WRD at an estimated cost of ₹43 lakh. He visited the anganwadi centre in Perithumbur village, reviewed children’s attendance and assessed the quality of nutritious meals being served. He also visited the Government High School and examined the quality of the midday meal prepared for students.Later, at Chinnathumbur village, he inspected paddy procurement operations at the local market.
