That's why the RAC has issued advice on how to cool down your car faster, and there are three steps that you can take to make it feel less like you stepped into a sauna."Getting into a car that's been parked all day? Here's the quickest way to cool it down," an expert explained.1. Fan the interiorThe RAC explained: "Open both windows on one side of the car and then swing a door on the opposite side [of the car] back and forth a few times. This will help push the hot air out of the car."2. Start your engineThis may seem counterproductive at first, but RAC quickly noted it's so you can "turn on the air conditioning".Turn it onto the coldest setting, and "make sure it's set to draw air in from the outside, not recirculate, as the external air will be cooler at this point".When the air is feeling cool, "close all windows and switch to recirculated air," which will help to "keep the cold air inside" the car, meaning you don't have to sit in your vehicle profusely sweating. It's also "more efficient" to do it this way, which is good news for those living in areas where the temperature may rise to 40 degrees this week.In the comments someone wrote: "The worst part isn’t the drive… it’s touching the steering wheel after it’s been sat in the sun."A woman joked: "I tried that door swingy thing in my driveway this morning, my neighbour looked at me and rolled his eyes! Another neighbour did the curtain twitchy thing. I looked like a complete madwoman! Right now they feel sorry for my husband!!"Content cannot be displayed without consentSome people fumed that they didn't have air conditioning in their car, saying it "must be nice" to be able to enjoy it.Article continues belowRAC share that it's important to park in the shade whenever possible to prevent direct sun from heating the cabin. If shade isn’t available, angle your car so the windshield faces away from the sun during peak hours. You could also install a reflective windshield sunshade to block solar radiation and lower dashboard and steering wheel temperatures.Have you tried these tips?
