Nigeria’s export of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, to the fellow West African country of Togo reached N105.5 billion in the first quarter of 2026.
The figures reveal that Togo imported N278.36 billion in gas oil exports and N273.18 billion in jet fuel or kerosene from Nigeria.
The value of partially refined oil, which included crude oil that had undergone initial processing, was N89.83 billion, while the value of crude petroleum oil exports was N220.14 billion.
The figure was published by the National Bureau of Statistics Foreign Trade Statistics Report for the first quarter of 2026 and analysed, as seen in the Punch Newspaper.
The current figures are in sharp contrast to a few years back, when Nigeria, prior to being an oil-refining nation, imported approximately $117m worth of petroleum oils (petrol/refined products) from Togo in 2023, and $72–77m in 2024.
