FC Barcelona has finalized the sale of goalkeeper Iñaki Peña to Greek club Panathinaikos FC for approximately €3 million. The Spanish keeper has signed a three-year contract with Panathinaikos that includes an option for a fourth year, potentially keeping him in Athens until June 2029. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move is complete.

A career stuck behind glass

His most recent stint away from Camp Nou saw him loaned to Elche in La Liga. That loan spell gave him regular playing time, but it also reinforced a reality: Barcelona’s plans at goalkeeper didn’t include him as a starter.

What Panathinaikos gets

Peña is still relatively young for a goalkeeper. The three-year contract, with the option for a fourth, gives both sides a reasonable window to see if the move pays off.
