Murdered DA local government election candidate in Okhahlamba Municipality, Thembalethu Zondo, was buried on Tuesday.
The DA in KwaZulu-Natal is now looking for a new ward councillor candidate following the murder of Thembalethu Zondo who had already been earmarked to contest the position in the Okhahlamba Municipality.
Zondo, 32, was buried on Tuesday leaving behind his elderly father and mother, and a six-year-old son, all who had pinned their hopes on him to improve their living conditions.
He had recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in maritime studies at the Durban University of Technology and was pursuing an honours.
Speaking on their way to the funeral at Njengabantu rural village outside Greytown in the north of KwaZulu-Natal, DA provincial leader Sithembiso Ngema, accompanied by party MP Maliyakhe Shelembe, said Zondo was well-prepared to campaign for the November local government elections as he was set to contest Ward 3 in the municipality.
