AGUSAN DEL SUR, Philippines – Ateneo basketball player Rene Clert Baterbonia will be laid to rest in his hometown of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, on Wednesday, June 24.
Baterbonia will be the first person to be buried at the new Talacogon Municipal Memorial Park.
His burial comes more than two weeks after he drowned during a team-building activity of the Ateneo de Manila University men’s basketball team in Aurora on June 8.
Baterbona’s Nigerian teammate, 21-year-old Divine Adili, also died in the tragedy. Their deaths, which have sparked calls for justice and accountability, remain under investigation.– Rappler.com
